Why We Support the Honor Flight of the Ozarks Each Year

If you’ve been following Zimmer for any amount of time, you know that giving to charity is a huge part of who we are as a company. That’s why we’re so excited that one of our absolute favorite charitable events is quickly approaching: The Honor Flight of the Ozarks Radiothon. Each year that we’ve hosted this event, we are completely blown away by the courageous veterans we encounter, as well as the generosity of our community!

As we continue working with this cause, we’re sharing some details on why we’re so passionate about this incredible organization and why we encourage you to support it alongside us.

What is the Honor Flight of the Ozarks?

This organization's mission is to fly America's veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials built in their honor. These trips are provided at absolutely no cost to the veterans themselves—a true act of respect for their service and sacrifice.

How often do we get to personally thank veterans for their service? Probably not enough. Our Honor Flight Radiothon offers our community a small yet profound way to show appreciation for these local heroes who fought to protect our freedom.

What Happens During the Honor Flight Radiothon?

During the Honor Flight Radiothon, several of our radio stations, including 98.7 The Dove, 98.3 The Stage, 101.3 Real Country, and KWTO, pause all other operations and dedicate a twelve-hour span to this cause. We invite local veterans into our studios to share their incredible stories on-air, and it’s truly the heart of the event. Listening to them recount the challenges they’ve faced and how the Honor Flight has brought them healing and hope is nothing short of inspiring. Their stories are a powerful reminder of resilience and sacrifice.

During the radiothon, our hardworking volunteers manage a phone bank all day, taking calls and collecting donations from our incredible listeners. We also offer an online donation portal that is monitored throughout the event.

We love this event because it also allows local businesses to get involved. Our business sponsors generously donate their time and funds to ensure our veterans receive the best Missouri has to offer. Some sponsors even agree to match listener donations! It’s truly amazing to see our community come together to support such a worthy cause.

How Much Does The Honor Flight Radiothon Raise?

We’re constantly amazed by the generosity of our community during our annual radiothon. In the past several years, we have helped raise over $136,000 with each radiothon — and we continue to aim even higher, and we know we can do it with your support. Every dollar raised stays local and directly funds this incredible cause. Let’s make an even bigger impact together!

How Can You Get Involved in The Honor Flight Radiothon?
